Southern California has some great places to camp right on the beach. No need for an expensive hotel room just pull up the RV or set up the tent. During the summer reservations are a must but off season it's possible to drive into the camp ground and get hooked up with a prime beachfront site. San Elijo State Beach is a prime example of Southern California beach front camping. This Northern San Diego county park has camping sites overlooking the Pacific Ocean offering some of the best views anywhere for just a few dollars a night.
