Hollywood California - Southern California"s biggest tourist trap
You know it's going to crowded, you know the streets are lined with vendors selling maps to the homes of the stars and yet you know you have just got to see it. Visitors come from all over the world to see this place, as you walk along the street you can hear people speaking German, Spanish, French, Brit's with accents and just about any other language. Even though the place is a little seedy in spots it's defiantly worth taking the trip to Hollywood. There are lots of historic buildings including Grauman's Chinese Theatre which seems to be the center of all the tourist activity. Brightly colored tour buses line up in front of the theatre waiting for tourists to board. Darth Vader, Elvis, Pirates and Michael Jackson look-a-likes walk up and down the street trying to get you to take a picture with them for $5 dollars. Musicians play and the tourists keep coming. For a little relief form the crowds on Hollywood Boulevard you can duck into the Hollywood and Highland Mall which is directly behind the Grauman's Chinese Theatre. This new modern mall has shopping plus quite a few places to eat. Take the stairs to the top floor and you are treated to a vista of Hollywood and Los Angeles beyond. Parking can be a problem, unless you pay the ten bucks for the lot. If you do not mind walking a couple of blocks you can find free parking on the surrounding streets. Tourist trap yes. worth visiting defiantly, Hollywood California.
