Fairytale Town Family Park Sacramento

Fairytale Town Family Park Sacramento Fairytale Town in Sacramento is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m starting in March. This fun play park is for smaller children and has over 25 different play sets designed around fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Located in William Land Park in Sacramento, Fairytale Town has delighted millions of guests, inspiring imagination, creativity and literacy since it opened in 1959. Admission is only $4.00 weekdays and $4.50 on weekends. For a small entrance fee your kids can have a fun filled day. Adults are only admitted with children. Flower Fields Carlsbad California


The Flower Fields in Carlsbad will be open on March 1st just in time fo the first day of spring. Every year thousands of visitors view this amazing site. Its possible to see the flowers from the San Diego freeway, but to really appreciate the full beauty of the event, park and walk the fields. Over 50 acres of hillside are planted with a field of color. Some of this years activities are:
Carlsbad Mining Company - Find your polished gem stones using the miner’s old method of sifting sand in water!
Sweet Pea Maze - A living maze of fragrant and colorful "old fashion" sweet pea blossoms.
Historic Poinsettia Display - Stroll a 1,500 square foot greenhouse filled with Ecke poinsettias.
American Flag of Flowers - American flag made of red, white and blue flowers planted on a 300 by 170 foot hillside.
Season: Spring (March 1 through May 10, 2009)
Hours: Open to the public seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Prices: $10.00 for Adults, $9.00 for Seniors 60+, $5.00 for Children 3 - 10,
Children 2 and under are free.

Hearst San Simeon State Park Camping

San Simeon State Park is located about 30 miles north of San Luis Obispo. The park is the closest campground to Hearst Castle and offers a fun alternative to staying at an expensive motel. The 541 acre park has about two miles of rocky shore plus two campgrounds. This tranquil getaway has many recreational options including hiking, beach combing and water sports. One of the most popular hikes is a 3.3 mile trail runs through parts of the San Simeon Natural Preserve. The trail includes scenic overlooks, rest-stop benches and interpretive panels with information on wildlife and habitat.
San Simeon Creek Campgrounds offers 115 campsites for tent camping or recreational vehicles. The maximum length for a RV is 35 feet. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. Water spigots are available throughout the campground. Restrooms with flush toilets and coin operated showers, a dump station and water fill-up for RV's, and pay phones are also available. Firewood is for sale from the campground host.
This primitive campground is approximately 1 mile inland from the beach on a plateau overlooking the Santa Lucia mountains as well as the Pacific Ocean. Washburn campground can be accessed from the San Simeon Creek Campground entrance station. Facilities here include a fire ring and picnic table at each campsite, water spigots, chemical flush toilets and use of the dump station and water fill-up.
Camping reservations can be made up to seven months in advance through Reserve America.

Napa Valley State Park

Napa Valley State Park
Bothe-Napa Valley State Park has the the only campgrounds in Napa Valley. So if your planning on spending some time in Napa Valley and on a tight budget this is the place. There's hiking trails through stands of maple and oak, picnic grounds, a swimming pool which is open in the summer and historical places of interest. There are only 37 campsites at Napa Valley State Park so during the summer reservations are a must. The park is located 5 miles north of St. Helena and 4 miles south of Calistoga on Highway 29/128.
Located by the entrance to the park is the Visitor Center. The Visitor Center and entrance station are open intermittently when staffing is available. Brochures (hiking maps) are also available by mail.
Next to the park's visitor center is the Native American Garden which displays some of the plants important to the first people of this area. Interpretive programs are offered throughout the year.
