The drive from Hearst Castle to Monterey Bay is one of the most spectacular journeys in California.
Coast Highway (CA-1 S/Cabrillo Hwy) hugs the pacific coast for nearly 100 miles.
For the most part the road is a winding two lane ribbon of asphalt that twist and turns its way through the rugged central coast of California.
Tourist buses along with cars take this road daily and experience one of the biggest undeveloped coastal areas in the Golden State.
Allow at least four hours for this drive, longer if you include stops for photos. The little town of Big Sur offers one of the few places where you can find accommodations.
Hotels are expensive and usually full. Camping is another options with several state and private campgrounds.
