Camping Yosemite National Park Cheap Vacation

Camping at Yosemite National Park is mostly a spring and summer activity although some of the lower elevation campgrounds are open year round.

 Its best to plan well in advance to get your reservation if you plan on visiting during the peak summer season but this is one camping trip you will never forget.

Here is an overview of the campgrounds in and around Yosemite National Park.
Upper Pines Yosemite Valley and is open all year. Reservations required for stays during March through November. The rest of the year is on a first come, first serve. There are 238 sites and RVs up to 35 feet and trailers up to 24 feet are allowed.
Lower Pines a seasonal campground located near Curry Village in Yosemite Valley. It is typically open March through October. Reservations required and can be made up to five months in advance. There are 60 sites and RVs up to 40 feet and trailers up to 35 feet are allowed.
North Pines seasonal campground located near Curry Village in Yosemite Valley. Open April through September. Reservations required and can be made up to five months in advance. There are 81 sites and RVs up to 40 feet and trailers up to 35 feet are allowed.
Camp 4 open all year and is located at 4,000 feet elevation. Located in the valley near the Yosemite Lodge. Reservations are not taken at this location, but the campground does fill up early spring through fall. RVs and trailers are not permitted at this campground.
Wawona campground is located at approximately 4,000 feet. It is open year round and reservations are required April through September, and the rest of the year is on a first come, first serve basis. There are 93 sites, plus a group site as well as equestrian-oriented sites. RVs and trailers up to 35 feet are permitted. 


Bridalvail Creek campground is located about 45 minutes south of Yosemite Valley at approximately 7,200 feet. It is typically open July through September with all sites on a first come, first serve basis.
Hodgdon Meadow campground is located near the Big Oak Flat entrance station at about 4,900 feet. The campground is open year round and reservations are required. RVs up to 35 feet and trailers up to 27 feet are permitted. Group camp sites are also available spring through fall.
Crane Flat campground is 30 minutes from Yosemite Valley. It is typically open July to September and reservations are required. Two of the sites are accessible for wheelchairs. RVs up to 35 feet and trailers up to 27 feet can be accommodated.
Tamarack Flat campground is about 45 minutes north of Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 6,300 feet. It is typically open June through September. This campground is first come, first serve only. RVs and trailers are not recommended.
White Wolf - Yosemite Creek campground is one hour north of Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 8,000 feet. It is typically open July through September. This campground is first come, first serve only. RVs up to 27 feet and trailers up to 24 feet can be accommodated.
Yosemite Creek campground is one hour north of Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 7,700 feet. It is typically open July through September. This campground is first come, first serve only. RVs and trailers are not recommended.
Porcupine Flat campground is located over an hour from Yosemite Valley and is typically open July through mid October. The elevation here is about 8,100 feet. This campground has 52 sites and is suitable for RVs and trailers up to 24 feet. No reservations are accepted.
Tuolumne Meadows campground is two hours northeast of Yosemite Valley at approximately 8,600 feet. It is typically open July through September. There are 304 sites and half are available on a reservation basis, and the rest are first come, first service. RVs and trailers up to 35 feet are allowed.
