San Francisco Halloween Events & Festivals

Halloween Events
If plan on going out for some Halloween fun chances are its going to be this weekend. Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year making it better suited for kids Trick-or-treating than going out for an evening of fun and excitement.
San Francisco has its share of Halloween events, shows, haunted house and parties so we put together this list of places to go in and around the bay area. If we missed your favorite Halloween be sure to let us know in the comment section.

Laugh-O-Lanterns: A Night of Killer Comedy for an evening filled with jokes, costumes and spooky tales, done only the way a killer group of comedians can. With frighteningly funny punch lines from a collection of sharp-dressed comics including Nick Guerra (Comedy Central's Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution) Queenie TT, Nick Hanna, Cody Woods, Patrick James and more.

Singles Halloween Party: Costume Contest, Dancing and More. Come as you are or come as someone else Adults of all ages are welcome at this Halloweekend bash. Costumes aren't required, but will be welcomed, and may even give you the chance to win some prizes. Get into the spirit by mixing, mingling and dancing to great music, spun by a top DJ. San Rafael October 27.

Winchester Mystery House's Fright Nights Ranked number two on the Travel Channel's list of the world's creepiest destinations, the Winchester Mystery House is bizarre enough on a normal day. On Halloween, it's scarier than ever as an award-winning interactive maze and house tour takes over the grounds with new thrills and an updated flashlight tour. Through November 3.

Halloween International Ball San Francisco. The rooms are all magically transformed to evoke a particular vibe, and each will inspire you to get your groove on. Wear your best costume for the chance to win great prizes, learn to impress on the dance floor with an included 45-minute group salsa class, and quench your thirst at any of the venue's several cash bars as you party the night away.

Halloween Showcase at the Punch Line Comedy Club San Francisco. this special edition of the Punch Line Comedy Club's weekly showcase. Participating comedians will all be in costume and performing jokes in character throughout Halloween eve, so it's sure to be a fun night full of comedic treats (no tricks!) for all.

Musical Parody HALLOWEEN! The Ballad of Michele Myers. New musical HALLOWEEN! The Ballad of Michele Myers. Mrs. Skerritt chaperones four "schoolgirls" up to the lake for a fun-filled Halloween dance over at the boys' camp. But someone also invited crazed tranny killer Michele Myers to crash the party, and now she's slashing through her victims to a disco beat.

Shocktoberfest 13: The Bride of Death San Francisco. Thrillpeddlers' unlucky 13th annual Halloween spectacle provides its usual dose of dark comedy and horror, with a classic Grand Guignol thriller, Coals of Fire, and two world-premiere one-acts. Set in the '40s, the all-new The Bride of Death has a reporter visiting the eerie house of an elderly actress, who somehow hasn't aged a day in 30 years. Black comedy The Twisted Pair finds a jealous DNA scientist setting out to win fame, no matter the cost.

Nevada City California Gold Country

Nevada City California
Nevada City got its start during the gold rush and is rich in history from that time.

There are several sites that are on the National Register of  Historic Places including Firehouse No. 2 and the National Hotel which is the oldest, still-functioning hotel, west of the Rockies.

In town Broad Street. Shops sell souvenirs, apparel, sweet treats, outdoor gear and more.

Another asset to Broad Street is the family of merchants are friendly and full of information they can give you inside information that only locals know.

Finding Nevada City is easy enough. Travel east on Interstate 80 past Sacramento to Hwy 49, Take Hwy 49 north to Hwy 20. Where 49 and 20 meet you come to Grass Valley. Nevada City is just a few short miles from there.
