Riding the Rails

A great way to travel in Southern California is by Amtrak Train. The railroad line runs along the coast from Capistrano Beach all the way to Torrey Pines state Park. You will be treated to views of the coast not seen from the freeway. On busy weekends relax while the train whizzes by the congested highway. The northern section of the track joins up with the coast at Oxnard and finally turns inland at Pismo Beach. One of the highlights of the northern route is passing through Vanderberg Air force base. You will get glimpses of the rocket launching facilities and views of unspoiled Southern California coastline. North or South traveling by train is a great way to experience Southern California.
