Point Dume Nature Preserve
Point Dume nature preserve is surrounded by million dollar estates and the view is priceless. The preserve is one of the few undeveloped areas along the Malibu coast. The point has been designated a State Natural Preserve, one of the highest levels of protection afforded by California law. Several trails lead from the small parking area. One takes you to the top of the headlands which gives you vistas of the Santa Monica Bay to the South and Zuma Beach to the north. The second trail takes you down to a secluded beach where you can explore tide pools, hike or relax and enjoy the view. Point Dume Nature Pacific is off Coast Highway 18 miles past Santa Monica. There is some free parking along Cliffside Drive (about 15 spaces) or you can park at Point Dume State Park and hike up. If you can find a parking space on Cliffside Drive this is the shortest route to the summit or the beach. Do not park on the streets they are all marked no parking.
